2017 Individual PARCC Score Recognition

MCJHS recognized students for their great achievement on the 2017 individual PARCC scores. In addition to the certificates coming home, the students also brought home their individual PARCC scores, a PARCC letter, mid-term grade reports, and their LifeTouch pictures.

MCJHS is working with the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) to coordinate a federal grant to help students with college and career readiness. ISAC is currently hiring two positions: one who will be in Mount Carmel and another in the Mount Carmel region. See the postings for both positions if you are interested.

7th Grade Tech Skills Visits N.I.C.E.

Mrs. Witsman's 7th grade Tech Skills classes visited classrooms at N.I.C.E. this morning. Each group created and illustrated their own children's story. It was a fun morning for all students!

Regional Science Fair Awards

Students receiving special recognition or awards at the Region 08 Science Fair held at SIU Carbondale on March 23, 2017 included:L-R Tucker York and Brynna Cropper won a monitory award  with matching funds for the school from the Office of Associate Chancellor for Institutional Diversity.  Sierra Hannah and Madilyn Piper won a monitory award with matching funds for the school from the same department.  They also received a bid to compete at the State Science Fair on April 6.  Rayce Loudermilk also received a bid to compete at the State Science Fair.  Congratulations on these special accomplishments!

Regional Science Fair

MCMS was represented at the Regional Science Fair in Carbondale,Il on March23, 2017.   Students earned the right to compete by earning the top scores at the local judging. Rayce Loudermilk competed individually. Ivy Ke and Kiah Gillihan, Madilyn Piper and Sierra Hannah, Allison Thread and Allie McPherson, and Brynna Cropper and Tucker York competed as partner groups. Students were judged on oral presentation skills, visual display a written report, and evidence of scientific process skills.  ALL MCMS students were awarded the top rating or "Gold" ranking based on the scores received,  Sarah Dougherty is their 8th grade Science Teacher and Sponsor.

Mount Carmel Middle School Recognized the 8th grade boys basketball players at their last home game of the year.
