The Tech Skills classes created Thanksgiving cards today for the nursing home residents at Oakview Heights in Mt. Carmel. The students wanted to start off the holiday season with a friendly deed! Pictured below is one of the 6th grade classes.

Nine choir and band students from MCMS participated in the Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) District Festival on Saturday, November 21 at Eastern Illinois University. They were selected for this honor by an audition that took place earlier this fall in Effingham. Mt. Carmel Middle School students competed in the VFW Essay Contest. Jaden Norrick wrote the winning essay and will be competing in the regional division of the VFW Essay Contest. Orrin Bromm and Madeline Goldman recently won the "Healthy Me is Drug Free" essay contest sponsored by MCMS eighth grade Language Arts teacher Warren Fleetwood. Each student developed a composition that explained the dangers of drugs and how illegal drugs lead to bad lifestyle choices. Great work students!!! Each student received a cash prize and gave a reading to the class.
